Ownership of a group membership

Question:

In a group membership, to whom does the membership “belong” – the individual or the company?

Answer:

The membership “belongs” to the organization: There are certain distinguishing features of an ASTD group membership. Although ASTD needs names of individuals (to include in the group) to track benefits, those memberships do not "belong" to the individuals. If an individual within a group leaves a company, they CAN NOT take that membership with them. It remains at the organization under the group. The company has the decision to transfer another name into the membership or leave the remaining funds from that membership as a credit on the account to use towards other ASTD products or services, or a future addition into the group. Your organization will have an account manager at ASTD who will oversee your group. At the same time, ASTD will request that a contact person be designated at your organization.
