How do I make Central's Email and Blackboard compatible with Windows Vista?
To make a computer that has the Windows Vista operating system or Internet Explorer 7 compatible with Central’s Student email and Blackboard (the online classroom software) you may need to make some changes to your system or Black Board. These changes enhance the security of Central’s Student Email and Black Board and should not affect the performance or safety of your computer.
1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
2. Click the Tools Icon (it looks like a little gear in the upper right hand corner of the window) on the Internet Explorer 7 Toolbar.
3. Select "Internet Options" from the drop down menu.
4. In the Internet Options window click the "General" Tab at the top of the Internet Options window.
5. Under "Browsing History" click "Settings".
6. Step 3: In the "Temporary Internet Files" area, under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" select "Every visit to the webpage”
7. Click "OK" to return to "Internet Options".
8. In the Internet Options window click the "Security" tab at the top of the Internet Options window.
9. In the Security Tab click the "Trusted Sites" icon (it looks like a green check mark) and then click the "Sites" button below it.
10. In the lower left corner of the Trusted Sites dialog box there is a check box for "Require server verification". This box should NOT be checked.
11. Under "Add this Web site to the zone" type *.centralaz.edu and then click "Add". The * in the website address means allow every site that ends with centralaz.edu. This includes Blackboard and the CAC Student E-mail.
12. *.centralaz.edu will move to the trusted websites list.
13. Click "Close" to close the Trusted Sites window and return to Internet Options.
14. In the Internet Options window click the "Privacy tab.
15. The "Settings slider" should be set to "medium" or lower. If the slider is set higher than medium you may experience difficulty with testing and your CAC student E-mail as some cookies will be blocked.
16. If there is a check mark in "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" - you will need to check the Pop-up Blocker Settings. By clicking "Settings".
17. You will need to add the Central Arizona College websites as "exceptions". Exceptions are sites which are allowed pop-ups even while blocking all other sites. Under "Address of website to allow" type *.centralaz.edu and then click "Add".
18. *.centralaz.edu will move to the allowed sites list. Click "Close" to close the Trusted Sites window and return to Internet Options.
19. Step 10: Click "OK" to close the Internet Options window and return to Internet Explorer.
To make Black Board compatible with Windows Vista you will need to disable the Text Box Editor in Black Board.

2. Click “Personal Information” in the bottom of the “Tools” menu
3. Click Set “Text Box Editor Options”
4. Under “Enable/Disable Text Box Editor Options”, select “Disable”
